TRASH & TIRE DISPOSAL IN ADAMS COUNTY: 

• Adams County Waste and Recycling (AWAR) is a waste transfer station located at 95 Trefz Road in West Union. AWAR is funded by the Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District and operated under contract by Adams Brown Recycling. The transfer station can be reached by phone at (937) 544-2650.
• The Adams County Waste and Recycling transfer station is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.  AWAR is CLOSED on Wednesdays, Sundays, all government holidays, and Good Friday (April 3, 2026).
• Trash can be disposed of at AWAR during normal operating days/hours for only 10 cents per pound.
• Tires can be disposed of at AWAR (on or off rim) for only 12 cents per pound. Tires are only accepted during the first full week of each month.
• Scrap steel can be disposed of at AWAR free of charge, but Freon-bearing items such as refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, and dehumidifiers require a $10 fee for disposal.
• Not accepted: hazardous waste, paint, oil/fluids, or barrels (unless top cut out and inside dry).
• Aluminum cans can be sold to AWAR during all normal operating days/hours. Call AWAR at (937) 544-2650 for current market pricing.
• Aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, lead-acid batteries, and some other materials can be sold to AWAR on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (not on Saturdays). Call AWAR at (937) 544-2650 for current market pricing.

RECYCLING IN ADAMS COUNTY:

• The Adams-Clermont Solid Waste District provides 18 recycling drop-off locations throughout Adams County, featuring a combination of stationary compactors and mobile roll-off containers to collect the recyclable material. Click on the "recycling bin locations" icon to the right or view the list below to find the recycling drop-off location closest to you.
• Each recycling drop-off location in Adams County is serviced by Adams Brown Recycling and processed at their facility in Georgetown, Ohio. Adams Brown Recycling is able to process the same recyclable material as Rumpke Waste and Recycling, with the exception of cups.
• All locations accept flattened cardboard, mixed paper, aluminum cans, steel cans, and plastic bottles.
• Glass bottles/jars are accepted in roll-off containers at every location except at North Adams Elementary, West Union Elementary, and West Union Courthouse Square. (marked with ** on the list below)
